چکیده

ABSTRACT In this paper the blind equalization method of Tong, Xu and Kailath, which was derived under the assumption of a white transmitted sequence, is generalized in order to include correlated sources. The resulting algorithm can be applied to arbitrarily colored sources, assuming that the source second-order statistics are known. Because it makes explicit use of this information, the new algorithm is expected to outperform subspace based methods which neither require nor exploit such knowledge. This is verified via simulations.

On the Applicability to Correlated Sources of a Blind Channel Equalization Method Robust to Order Overestimation

We consider the blind equalization problem in single-user, FIR multichannel models from the second-order statistics of the channel output. In particular, we focus on the case of a correlated channel input, whose statistics are known to the receiver. The few algorithms that are able to handle colored sources usually require exact knowledge of the channel order. This is a major drawback since cha...

Blind Separation of Jointly Stationary Correlated Sources

The separation of unobserved sources from mixed observed data is a fundamental signal processing problem. Most of the proposed techniques for solving this problem rely on independence or at least uncorrelation assumption for source signals. This paper introduces a technique for cases that source signals are correlated with each other. The method uses Wold decomposition principle for extracting ...

An Approach to Blind Deconvolution Based on Second-order “soft” Statistics

In this paper we present a new blind equalizer that achieves identification of a channel by exploiting only second-order statistics of the observations. The novelty of the proposed approach is that the receiver accomplishes channel identification by using soft-statistics; roughly speaking, it consists of an Abend-Fritchman type [11] Maximum A Posteriori (MAP) equalizer that feeds a nonlinear Ka...

Blind channel equalization with colored sources based on second-order statistics: a linear prediction approach

We consider the blind equalization and estimation of single-user, multichannel models from the second-order statistics of the channel output when the channel input statistics are colored but known. By exploiting certain results from linear prediction theory, we generalize the algorithm of Tong et al., which was derived under the assumption of a white transmitted sequence. In particular, we show...

Equalization and interference cancellation in linear multiuser systems based on second-order statistics

Potential applications of blind channel identification and equalization in data communication systems have recently been explored. For multiuser systems that are irreducible and column-reduced, second-order statistical methods normally can identify channel dynamics up to a unitary mixing matrix. Additional user separation (equalization) can rely on higher order statistics and other prior inform...
